825 injured were treated at Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon since the beginning of the war, as it sustained heavy rocket barrages and a direct hit to the pediatric wing. “I’ve seen a thing or two but never anything like this. It’s insane, horrible, difficult, cruel. It’s hard work for us as a staff, but this is what we’re prepard for and this is how we’ll prevail,” they say in the emergency room.

“IRON SWORDS” War

Hospital under fire

Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon sustained heavy barrages of rockets one after the other over the past days – even with no sirens or warnings.

Yesterday a rocket scored a direct hit on the pediatric wing, causing serious damage to the building.

Fortunately there were no children present at the time, as due to the state of emergency most of the hospital’s departments had been evacuated to underground floors, but the head of the institute had to be rescued from a mamad ( reinforced security room ) that was covered in concrete fragments and glass.
